“A trip to my Mother’s Country.
My older sister who was living in Alice Springs arranged for my younger sister and me to visit our Mother’s Alyawarr Country in 2005. We were fortunate to travel with an Alyawarr Elder who introduced us to cousins and aunties. They asked us what had happened to our mother as they never knew once she was taken away. They also asked us why it had taken so long for us to visit. We visited Elkedra Station where my mother was born. My photos in this series reflect the impact of white settlement had on the mob.
This image was captured en route to Elkedra and signifies the remoteness of the Elkedra Station.”
