50 x 50cm Inkjet photographic print on paper by Lindi Dietzel
This work is an outcome of Baluk Arts’ Gumbadik (Soft Tree Fern) project which connected local Aboriginal people of diverse heritage to one of the few original natural environments of the Mornington Peninsula. Endeavour Fern Gully in Red Hill which is managed by the National Trust of Australia (Victoria), holds a rich history and cultural significance which captured the imagination of this important collective of Indigenous artists.
Lindi is a proud Aboriginal woman, born on Boonwurrung Country and now living on Wathaurong Country. Lindi has picked up the pieces of her Mother’s story, and found ties back to Corranderrk and the Yorta Yorta Nation. She is committed both professionally and personally to support, advocacy, personal/cultural development, health and education for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, our families and communities. She uses art as therapeutic expression and a way to connect to culture.
