"Girrang is Waradjuri for Gum Leaves and when Welcoming people to Country the smoking of the Girrang's is part of this ceremony.  The smoking of Girrang is also used to ward off bad spirits and protect us from harm. We can see the tracks across the land as we travel to and from our waterholes and Bora Grounds. We are Welcomed by the Girrang and to signify that this is Waradjuri Country you will see that the leaves have distinct marking on them that are Waradjuri Markings. These markings identify us to who we are where we come from. We hope you enjoy your travel across our land and that the Welcoming to you by the Girrang makes your journey a memorable one and safe from harm."

Kevin Williams is an internationally renowned Aboriginal artist, whose practice is strongly influenced by the Waradjuri land where he grew up. Over the years he has developed an ability to be able to capture the natural characteristics of the land, native Australian animals, the environment, and then combine them together with the markings and symbols of the Waradjuri.
