Uncle Nick’s landscapes revive memories on Country, moments of peace and ancestral presence which replay in the artist’s mind during his mark-making process. Kaparoona Land presents a memory from the meander valley beyond Deloraine, recounting the restless energy of wulikaktikala (Cradle Mountain), mamulipi (Mole Creek), and trawtha makuminya (Central Highlands).

Nick Kupetsky is a palawa man from central Tasmania and has been a creative practitioner for over twenty years. Nick’s multi-media practice explores the deep and dark ancestral histories of palawa country, as well as the artist’s own private moments of cultural discovery and revelation.
